Rules:
Sculptures can not measure more than 1 meter in diameter, with a maximum height of 1,50 meters as the sculptures will have to be placed in every available space in the building.
Building commences on site Sunday 30 March 09.00 am and must be completed by 13:00h.
No balloons can be inflated, no elements, no special structures and no fantasy techniques can be made in advance.
No rigging or attaching to the building is allowed.
All balloons must be Qualatex.
Balloon product will be supplied free of charge if a drawing and product list is submitted NO LATER THAN 1 March 2008. Please submit to Rozane Barnard rozaneb@qualatex.com.
Space is limited and the organisers reserve the right to decline your application. Sculptures may be moved after completion.
Sculptures must be dismantled and cleared on Wednesday 2 April between 15.30 and 17.00 hours.
Pioneer will own the rights to all photographs and may publish these in images magazine or other publications or advertisement features and fliers. Credit will be given to the artists in all cases.
Judges will be drawn from Pioneer, ABC and Qualatex Approved Instructors.
Judging criteria:
The sculpture must not exceed the stated size
Only Qualatex Balloons to be used.
The sculpture must be completed on time.
Technical merit.
The piece must be of the highest standard Visual Impact.
The piece must be visually striking with good use of colours.
The concept should be original.
Judges will be looking for innovation and detail Saleability.
Judges will favour pieces that are commercially viable.
The Judges decision is final.
No alternative to the stated prize is on offer.
The winner will be announced at the Gala Dinner on Monday.
